Keiki Kauwela Program

Welcome to the 4-week Keiki Kauwela Program. Yes, it is a parent participation program. Well, it’s more of a keiki participation program as this program is geared towards nourishing nā makuahine, while keeping keiki occupied. This 4-week program is to provide a safe space for entrepreneurial makuahine to kākoʻo a me mālama each other in all ways. A safe space means that anything that is shared during the keiki kauwela program is free of judgment or mockery; but may be subjected to gentle and loving accountability, which is vital for a healthy and thriving kaiāulu.

Program Flow:

  • ʻOli- Open each session with ʻoli “E hō mai”, to help us get into right headspace and rid any negativity. (Lyrics and video found below for “E hō mai”)

  • Kilo- Receive instruction and observe what needs to be done. Whether itʻs work to be accomplished to help maintain loʻi or instruction during beach workshop sessions.

  • Hana- Time to put in that work. Work at your own pace and take breaks as needed or apply workshop lesson. (Typically 30-45mins)

  • Mea ʻai- By now, weʻve all worked up an appetite. Time to enjoy fellowship and refreshments (if packed any) together.

  • Kūkākūkā- Discuss ʻolēlo noʻeau (see below), what it means to you, and how you can embody in everyday.

The kauwela program itinerary isnʻt rigid. Please feel free to bring up anything that you need support on or to unburden yourself of anything that has been feeling heavy.

ʻOlēlo noʻeau ma ka pule

  • Haʻawe i ke kua, hiʻi ke alo- Carry a burden on the back and cradle a baby in the arms.

  • He poʻi na kai uli, kai koʻo, ʻaʻohe hina pūkoʻa- Though the sea be deep and rough, the coral rock remains standing.

  • Nānā ka maka, hoʻolohe ka pepeiao, paʻa ka waha.

  • ʻAʻohe hana i nele i ka uku- No deed lacks a reward.
