Māmāwalu is a gathering space for Hawaiʻi-based mothers moving through full seasons — holding their ʻohana, and something they’re building — where connection, culture, and well-being are supported in a slower, more grounded rhythm.
There’s nothing you need to be, before coming here.
Māmāwalu began as something simple — mothers gathering together to talk story, share perspective, and move through the realities of motherhood, home life, and the things they were building.
Over time, it became a space rooted in connection, lived experience, and community care.
Here, nothing is required beyond arriving as you are.
How we Gather
Māmāwalu unfolds through both Gatherings and Shared Practices.
While they hold different purposes, both are rooted in connection, reciprocity, and the understanding that mothers were never meant to carry everything alone.
Gatherings
Gatherings are the wider community containers of Māmāwalu.
These are spaces to come together naturally and without pressure — to talk story, share food, bring keiki, reconnect with self, and simply be in community with other mothers.
Some gatherings are seasonal, reflective, playful, or centered around connection itself.
Examples may include:
beach mornings
aina workdays
potlucks
seasonal gatherings
talk story circles
family-friendly community events
reflective spaces for mothers
Shared Practices
Within some gatherings, Māmāwalu also holds Shared Practices.
Shared Practices are community-led experiences where mothers share something they’ve been tending through lived experience — from their own hands, rhythms, creativity, or perspective.
These are not spaces rooted in expertise or perfection, but in meaningful sharing, reciprocity, and community care.
Shared Practices may include:
movement
tea blending
storytelling
sound healing
lei making
creative sessions
homemaking rhythms
nervous system support
seasonal reflection
journaling or intentional rest practices
